Father of a Russian girl who campaigned against the war in Ukraine is arrested

The picture shows rockets heading towards a woman and a child. The girl also drew the flags of Russia and Ukraine and wrote “No to the war” and “Honour to Ukraine”.

Before the verdict was announced, the man was already under house arrest. However, Moskalyov ended up on the run.

The condemnation of the drawing caused outrage in Russia and became a symbol of repression against people opposed to the invasion of Ukraine.

The drawing

After the girl drew the antiwar drawing, the principal called the police.

An investigation was launched and authorities said they had found publications by Moskalyov criticizing the Russian operation in the neighboring country on the Internet.

After that, the girl’s father was placed under house arrest, while the daughter was placed with a foster family. The teenager has been prevented from keeping in touch with her father.

A new trial against the family is scheduled for April 6, during which, according to Moskalyov’s lawyer, the girl could be sent to an orphanage.
