“We are with Ukraine. I have reaffirmed our commitment and spoke of the goal of a just and lasting peace.” This is how Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni reacted to a tweet from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, with whom she had been on the phone in the past few hours.

“I spoke to Giorgia Meloni today.
I thank her for her principles, for her determination, for the true European strength that can be felt in her words and deeds in defense of freedom,” said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in his usual evening speech.
