New Alouettes president: Mark Weightman still has work to do at the Lions

Mark Weightman, who was named president and CEO of the Montreal Alouettes on Tuesday, will end his tenure with the Trois-Rivières Lions for the remainder of the ECHL season.

The organization Trois-Rivières recalled in a press release on Wednesday that its leader, who will assume the same functions as those assigned to him by the Sparrows, will be present at the Lions’ last home meeting, scheduled for April 14. He will take up his new position with the Alouettes on April 11th.

As the owner of training associated with the Montreal Canadiens and Laval Rocket in the ECHL, Deacon Sports and Entertainment is looking to see a gradual transition and intends to begin searching for Weightman’s successor soon. He has been at the top since 2020 and contributed to the birth of the car dealership.

The 2022-2023 season has been synonymous with upheaval in Mauritius as head coach Éric Bélanger resigned last November and general manager Marc-André Bergeron took over from behind the bench. Before Wednesday’s game against Worcester Railers, the Lions were second to bottom in the North Division with a 24-36-3 record and 51 points.
