The cookbook for the DRUNK: Recipes that you can safely cook if you have had too much

The Cookbook for the DRUNK: Recipes that can be cooked after one too many – including a chicken nugget sandwich – are created by firefighters

  • Firefighters have developed recipes for those too drunk to venture near a stove
  • The book You’re Cooked pokes fun at those who are too drunk to cook properly
  • Recipes include chicken nugget sandwiches, spicy beans, and “not fried rice.”

We’ve all, at some point in our lives (or more), stumbled through the front door and embarked on a mission to treat ourselves to a delicious after-night feast.

But considering that one in four fires starts in the kitchen and half of all fatal home fires are alcohol or drug-related, firefighters have put together a hilarious cookbook for those who’ve had a few too many.

You’re Cooked offers drunken revelers a chance to satisfy their late night cravings without the risk of burning down their house or even succumbing to a kebab.

Created by firefighters in New Zealand, the 117-page cookbook includes chapters such as ‘You’re Toasted’, ‘You’re Smashed’, ‘You’re Wasted’, ‘You’re Canned’ and ‘You’re Twisted’.

For those wondering what’s on the menu, You’re Cooked offers recipes including an air fryer chicken nugget sandwich, spicy beans on microwave toast and sushi bags. It even suggests skipping all prep by stealing your roommate’s “Forbidden Lasagna.”

Party-goers can then wash down their safely prepared meals with a glass of ‘Blue Soberaid’ – which includes water, honey and multivitamins to ward off a hangover, among other things.

You’re Cooked describes itself as “a cookbook for home cooks who are under the influence of alcohol”.

It adds, “A buffet of no-stovetop recipes that will help satisfy late-night cravings without burning the house down.”

A video promoting the book shows visibly inebriated chefs trying out the recipes — one struggling to butter his bread while another can’t keep his food from spilling out of his mouth into a bowl.

Other recipes considered safe include “You-done Udon” for noodles, which are made with an electric kettle, and “Non-Fried Rice”, which is made in the microwave.

The cookbook guides night cooks with witty instructions. For “Uncanned Beans,” it tells revelers to “free the beans from their tin prison and tip them into a microwave-safe bowl.”

It adds: “To spice up your world, add a pinch of cumin, curry powder, and chilli powder to the beans.

‘Nuke the beans for 2 minutes and stir the beans halfway (cold beans = bad time).

“Butter the toast, drop the beans onto the greasy bread mattress, and munch.”

Despite You’re Cooked’s obviously light-hearted nature, firefighters insist the book has a serious message for those tempted to feast after a night on the town.

“Distracted cooking is the number one cause of home fires. Stay away from the stove when drunk or high,” the campaign warns.
