Canadian hopefuls Lane Hutson and Sean Farrell are not among the three finalists still in contention for the Hobey-Baker Trophy, awarded to the NCAA’s outstanding hockey player.

The American University Circle on Thursday revealed the identities of the three players who can hope to win the prestigious award, which will be presented in Tampa on April 7th. Thus, the recent National League draft’s third overall pick, Arizona Coyotes forward Logan Cooley, was retained, as was Adam Fantilli, who is eligible for the next amateur auction at Bettman Circuit, and Matthew Knies, a winger who is from the was ranked 57th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2021.
It’s another disappointment for Hutson after he died in the hunt for East Division Player of the Year; Goaltender Devon Levi, currently with the Buffalo Sabers, was preferred. The defenseman had 15 goals and 33 assists for 48 points, in addition to a +28 difference in 38 games with the Boston University Terriers.
For his part, Farrell is with the Habs, having accumulated 53 points, including 20 goals, in 34 encounters with Harvard.
Among the finalists, Cooley had 57 points in 37 games with the Minnesota Gophers; his teammate Knies scored 41 points in 38 matches. As for Fantilli, he had 64 points, including 29 goals, in 35 games with the Michigan Wolverines.
