After setting a new American League baseball brand with 62 home runs last season, New York Yankees batter Aaron Judge set out on his 2023 debut Thursday afternoon.

As the second batter of the Bronx Bombers’ first inning in their opener against the San Francisco Giants, the right-hander sent a shot from starter Logan Webb over the centerfield fence for a long solo ball at the big crowd puller of Yankee Stadium.
Due to the game’s early hour, Judge became the first four-goal scorer of the major league campaign. In 2022, he surpassed Roger Maris’ record of 61 home runs set in 1961. However, the all-time high in the major leagues still belongs to Barry Bonds: he hit 73 with the Giants in 2001.
