A new visual effects studio opens in Montreal

British visual effects company Union, which has been based in London for fifteen years, is opening a new office in Montreal, specialist website Deadline Hollywood announced on Thursday.

Founded in 2008 by Adam Gascoyne and Tim Caplan, the company has often worked with renowned British filmmakers such as Sam Mendes, Danny Boyle and Stephen Frears. Union has just designed the visual effects for the recently Oscar-nominated dark comedy The Banshees of Inisherin and sci-fi series The Power, out this Friday on Amazon Prime Video.

“We chose to open our first international office in Montreal because it is the ideal place to work with clients in different time zones and because of the incredible talent pool and generous tax credits,” Tim Caplan told Deadline Hollywood . We are very excited to start this new chapter.”

Union’s Montreal studio will be based in the Le Nordelec building, located between the Griffintown and Pointe-Saint-Charles neighborhoods. The company has already started the recruitment process.
