PARIS, 30th March (RHC) – French President Emmanuel Macron’s popularity continues to plummet, according to a poll presented this Thursday, which estimates 70 percent of citizens who don’t trust their president.

In recent weeks, other studies, such as that conducted by BVA for radio station RTL and that of the French Institute of Public Opinion, have already pointed to the loss of public support for the President due to his drastic handling of the controversial pension reform, which was being launched by a large societal majority is rejected.

In particular, the report presented today by Kantar Public in the newspaper Le Figaro shows that the proportion of French people who do not trust Macron has increased from 57 to 70 percent in the last two months, but the worst increase is in the personal sphere “they don’t trust him at all” as they have risen 9 points in one month and now account for 50 percent of all respondents.

This is a record low, close to the drop in popular support Macron himself suffered in April 2018 during the “yellow vest” crisis and the record set by Francois Hollande in 2015.

Among Conservative voters, just 26 percent show their trust in the President, a support that drops to 15 percent among sympathizers of left-wing parties (France Unsubmissive, Communist Party, Ecologists and Socialist Party) and barely 10 percent among Socialists on the extreme right of the National Association.
