Placed next to the opposition net, the Quebecer took a nasty tumble when teammate Shane Pinto scored late in the second period.

As he fell, Brassard saw his right leg bend in a way that boded ill.

The forward immediately doubled over in pain on the ice and needed help minutes later as he exited the rink.

The 35-year-old, who was born in Hull, signed a one-year contract with the “Sens” in October after a successful trial. He scored 13 goals and 23 points in 61 games and quickly became a key member of the Ottawa team in the dressing room.

During his career, whoever has worn the colors of nine other teams at Bettman Circuit has accumulated 545 points in 1012 games.
