Jonathan Majors’ lawyer provides alleged texts from woman allegedly assaulted

(CNN) A lawyer for actor Jonathan Majors shared text messages she says came from the woman who allegedly assaulted her client last weekend.

Majors, who recently starred in “Creed III” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” was charged with assault and molestation Sunday after a domestic dispute in New York, according to Manhattan prosecutors.

The complaint against Majors does not name the accuser, but says he “slapped her in the face with an open hand, causing significant pain and a laceration behind her ear.”

It is also claimed that he “put his hand on her neck causing bruising and significant pain”.

“Mr. Majors completely denies assaulting the woman,” his attorney Priya Chaudhry told CNN in a statement Thursday. “At around 11 a.m. on March 25, 2023, Jonathan Majors called 911 out of concern for the woman’s mental health. Police, as usual, arrived with the paramedics and arrested Mr. Majors under NYPD protocol that calls for an arrest under certain circumstances.”

Hours later, the woman texted Majors, according to Chaudhry.

In screenshots of messages allegedly sent by the woman to Majors, which Chaudry provided to CNN, she wrote: “You have assured me you will not be charged. They said they had to arrest you for record when they saw the injuries on me and they knew we had a fight.”

“I’m so sorry you’re in this position. I’ll make sure nothing happens,” she reportedly wrote. “I told them it was my fault for trying to steal your phone.”

In another message sent hours later, she wrote: “I have reiterated that this was not an attack and they do not have my blessing that charges will be brought. I read the paper they gave me about strangulation and I said straight out that it did not happen and should be removed immediately.”

CNN cannot verify whether the text messages came from the Majors’ prosecutor.

A spokesman for the Manhattan Attorney’s Office told CNN their investigation is “active and ongoing.”

In addition to his recent high-profile roles, Majors, who was nominated for an Emmy for his role in HBO’s Lovecraft Country, is poised to play a major role in the next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
