Circuit LIV: Tiger Woods no longer speaks to Bryson DeChambeau

The decision to join the LIV Tour and leave the PGA has eroded many relationships in the professional golf world, and those of Bryson DeChambeau and Tiger Woods are no exception.

DeChambeau was one of the PGA’s biggest stars when he signed a deal worth more than $125 million on the Saudi-sponsored tour last June.

His decision, like that of dozens of golfers who have emulated him, was met with a very cold reception by the athletes most loyal to the PGA.

The Californian asserted that despite his loner nature, he has still kept in touch with several ex-colleagues, including Jordan Spieth and Will Zalatoris.

Laughing, however, DeChambeau told reporters in Winter Garden, Fla. that they could “guess” who was no longer speaking to him.

“I will not betray anyone. He was a good friend of mine, he said of Woods, according to USA Today. I wished him a happy birthday. It is like it is. He has his point of view.

“We have a chance to make the sport grow and I hope one day he will understand our point of view.”

Also, DeChambeau hasn’t missed the PGA since joining the LIV circuit.

“I have no regrets. I loved the fans and people who came to cheer me on. But we’re slowly starting to attract crowds. People are increasingly understanding our model and liking the team concept. From what I’ve seen, they’re moving things in the right direction.”

Before taking the Saudi jackpot, DeChambeau won the 2020 US Open and seven other PGA Tour titles.
