Controversial social media influencer and suspected sex trafficker Andrew Tate was released from a Romanian prison on Friday and placed under house arrest.

After losing his first three appeals, Tate was released from a Bucharest arrest after winning his fourth, which challenged a judge’s decision last week to extend his arrest for a fourth time by 30 days, said Ramona Bolla, a spokeswoman by DIICOT, Romania’s anti-organizational criminal agency.

Tate had been jailed since late December on suspicion of organized crime and human trafficking.

The 36-year-old influencer – who has 5.5million followers – tweeted a simple “:)” when celebrating.

Tate and his three alleged accomplices – including brother Tristan – have not been formally charged.

Under Romanian law, they could have been held without charge for 180 days.

The foursome were granted immediate release in favor of house arrest until April 29, and the public prosecutor’s office cannot contest a final verdict, said Bolla.

As the brothers left the detention center on Friday, Tristian told reporters, “The judges made the right decision today.”

“I respect what they did for me and they are vindicated in their decision because I’m an innocent man and I can’t wait to prove it,” he said.

The brothers were greeted by fans chanting “Top-G,” a famous nickname meaning “top gangster” and referred to him by many of Andrew’s fans.

Friday’s appeal was the fourth the Tate brothers had filed but the first they had won. AP Andrew and Tristian were granted house arrest until April 29. AP Tate has maintained his innocence since his arrest in December on alleged sex trafficking charges. AP

Tate, who has lived in Romania since 2017, and Tristian are accused of leading an organized crime gang that seduced and tricked women into sex trafficking, with some victims accusing the duo of rape.

At least six victims have come forward with allegations of “physical violence and psychological coercion” and sexual exploitation.

Two Romanian women, Naghel Georgiana Manuela and Radu Alexandra Luana, were also arrested in connection with the averted crimes.

The brothers have repeatedly maintained their innocence, and Tate has even attributed their arrest to a political conspiracy aimed at silencing him, which he dubbed “the Matrix”.

Tate has tried to recruit lawmakers to help him and tried to intimidate some of his accusers, according to wiretaps of his phone calls prosecutors relayed to the court.
