Sporting Crystal It has been characterized in recent years that there have been problems finding a foreign striker who is playing at a similar level to Emanuel Herrera. Brenner Marlos is currently adapting to the team and has already scored a number of goals, so it’s likely that he can improve further. At the start of the year, however, the “9” chosen for 2022 was one of the least successful in several seasons: the Colombian John Jairo Mosquera He left the club without scoring.
John Jairo Mosquera joined Sporting Cristal at the express request of coach Roberto Mosquera, who coached him in Bolivia while he was playing for Royal Pari. The Colombian striker has played in the highland country in recent years but was part of Werder Bremen and Unión Berlin long before that. Unfortunately, none of this was enough for ‘JJ’ to live up to expectations.

John Jairo Mosquera and his hardship at Sporting Cristal
John Jairo Mosquera was announced as a new signing for Sporting Cristal for the 2022 season in December last year. Without having seen him play, many Sky Blue fans expressed their dissatisfaction with the Colombian striker’s arrival. There have been several lawsuits against the leadership, including many calling for the return of Emanuel Herrera.
Mosquera officially debuted with Cristal on February 5 in the 1-0 loss to Sport Huancayo, on Day 1 of Apertura. He came on for Irven Ávila at 61′ but didn’t have much involvement. After playing one more game, he was injured and didn’t play again until almost two months later. After the 2-1 defeat against Católica in Libertadores, some fans confronted him and shouted “Sweat it off!”.

What happened to John Jairo Mosquera?
Finally, in early May, the club announced that John Jairo Mosquera was no longer a Cristal player by mutual agreement. Days earlier, the Colombian’s former coach told Always Ready that he was a good player but the doctor had told them he had a chronic injury. The forward left Peruvian football after playing just six games – none finished – and scoring without a goal.
In mid-June, it was announced that John Jairo Mosquera would return to Bolivian football to play for Real Tomayapo. His good days at Royal Pari made him an old acquaintance in the league. Unfortunately, just a day later, the club announced that they had failed medical tests and the whole deal fell through. Since then, Mosquera has not played at a professional level.
