While tolls in Akwesasne so far still show eight dead, authorities on Saturday confirmed the identity of the woman of Romanian origin who was found dead earlier this week.

This is Cristina (Monalisa) Zenaida Iordache, 28 years old. She and her partner Florin Iordache had attempted to cross the Canada-US border with their two children, Evelyn, 3, and Eylen, 1. The whole family was decimated in this tragedy.
The other four bodies found, those of four Indian nationals, have been identified but not confirmed as authorities are still trying to contact relatives of the deceased.
