Police pursuit: A teenager without a license causes a road trip in Repentigny

It’s a story that could have ended much worse, that night in Repentigny when three teenagers decided to drive into town in their parents’ car without permission.

At around 3:25 a.m., police attempted to intercept the irregularly moving vehicle.

The 16-year-old driver – who does not have a license – refused to stop for this reason and a brief police chase of around a minute and a half ensued, according to Repentigny Police Department.

The driver then lost control of Rue Saint-Paul, corner of Rue Charlotte-Belhumeur, in the Le Gardeur sector. The car landed on the balcony of a residential building. Luckily nobody was hurt.

As for the apartment building, firefighters went to the scene of the crime to inspect the structure and ensure its integrity. The occupants were evacuated during controls but were able to return after the structure solidified as there was no danger.

The vehicle was towed away just before 5:30 a.m.

The driver is expected to be reported for hit and run. The passengers were released without charge.
