Sunwing airline is once again singled out for undelivered luggage by travelers leaving Montreal to fly to Cuba.
On March 24, Sunwing had to sacrifice about fifty suitcases from passengers leaving Montreal to provide food supplies to hotels in Cayo Largo.
More than thirty passengers had to spend the week without their suitcase. Some had to be content with sweaters and shorts all week.
Note that it is virtually impossible for tourists to obtain basic hygiene items in Cayo Largo, as most of the shops are souvenir shops and hotels.
Sunwing attempted to rectify the situation by offering travelers US$400 monetary compensation to be used at various businesses on Cayo Largo. However, some of the passengers refused as there are no general stores in the city.
Christian Lacappelle, one of the travelers, agreed to tell TVA Nouvelles about his mishap.
“When we were waiting at the carousel, we asked where the suitcases were. A guy told us there weren’t any more. You buy yourself a trip, I needed a week off to rest and I was stressed all week. (…) We didn’t deserve that! This is really unacceptable! I’ve been with them for at least 20 trips,” he says.
