The Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) issued a statement after learning of FIFA’s decision to take the U-17 World Cup headquarters away from Peru. According to the publications on their social networks, the main reason is the delay in starting work at the selected sports facilities.

“The decision is based on the delays in starting the execution of sports infrastructure works, the request for partial changes to the commitments signed by a country from the Legacy Pan American and Parapan American Games Special Projects to be adopted by FIFA.” , the statement said.
In another part of the communication, the FPF mentions that despite the cooperation with the government, the work could not be carried out on the dates indicated by FIFA. “Despite the will of the government authorities to clarify the obligations taken on as a country before FIFA, its executive unit has not complied with the processes within the established deadlines,” he said.

The panel, chaired by Agustín Lozano, clarified that the functions to be performed by him are related to the operational organization of the World Cup. Meanwhile, he assured that the government should be responsible for investing in renovation and restoration works of the stadiums selected as host cities.
