March Madness: ‘UConn’ Huskies are champions

The University of Connecticut Huskies won the NCAA men’s basketball championship, the infamous March Madness, Monday night.

UConn defeated the San Diego State University Aztecs 76-59 at NRG Stadium in Houston.

This is the fifth national title for the Huskies, who also won in 1999, 2004, 2011 and 2014.

This time it was Tristan Newton who announced the winners. The 6ft 5in athlete had 19 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.

He was joined by teammates Adama Sanogo and Jordan Hawkins, who had 17 and 16 points, respectively. The first of those two players also had 10 rebounds.

In the Aztec camp, Keshad Johnson scored 14 points. Darrion Trammell and Lamont Butler also did well with 13 points each. It was the first time the San Diego State University team had made it to the March Madness finals.
