NFL Lamar Jackson may look elsewhere

Lamar Jackson File: Ravens don’t rule out drafting a quarterback

In turmoil with Lamar Jackson, the Baltimore Ravens are exploring the possibility of drafting a quarterback in late April.

In March, the Pivot publicly announced that it had asked the Maryland organization to trade it. Jackson is currently a free agent, but the Ravens have given him a non-exclusive franchise player tag. That means they can match an offer the quarterback would accept from one of the NFL’s 31 other rosters or receive draft picks in compensation.

The Ravens currently only have quarterback Anthony Brown under contract. Given all of this, it’s understandable that General Manager Eric DeCosta isn’t closing doors on the next amateur auction at the Goodell Circuit.

“It will depend on what’s available,” the DG replied when asked by the ESPN network about the possibility of including a pivot.

“I have to say yes because we have quarterbacks in our top 31.”

When we talk about the 2023 draft, four quarterbacks stand out. Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, Anthony Richardson and Will Levis should be picked fairly quickly. The Ravens hold the 22nd pick of the first round and there’s a very good chance none of these youngsters will be available when it’s the club’s turn.

“I would say there are more than four quarterbacks that could make an impact in our league this year,” DeCosta said.

According to ESPN’s soccer pundits, the Ravens are reportedly planning to get a wide receiver or cornerback with their first-round draft.
