Silvio Berlusconi has chronic leukemia and is in intensive care, a hospital says

Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who was hospitalized on Wednesday (5), suffers from chronic leukemia and will be admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), according to a medical bulletin published on Thursday (6).

Still according to the doctors, he have pneumonia.

Berlusconi, 86, was admitted to Milan’s San Raffaele hospital on Wednesday afternoon after suffering from breathing problems. As of Thursday’s bulletin, however, neither the hospital nor the former prime minister’s family had commented on his health.

The hospital also reported that he was “much better” this Thursday than on Wednesday.

Berlusconi who was fourtime Prime Minister of Italy, still active in politics. He is currently the leader of the Forza Italia party, which he founded Member of the current governing coalitionby Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, from the extreme right.

A billionaire ultraliberal, Berlusconi also owns an empire of communications companies and a soccer team.

As head of government, he faced a series of sex scandals, most notably over allegations of hiring underage prostitutes at parties that became known as “bunga bunga”.

Berlusconi was sentenced to seven years in prisonbut was later acquitted.

health problems

In recent years, the former Italian Prime Minister has been facing various health problems, the consequences of which have been caused by Covid19, which he contracted in 2020.

He has previously treated prostate cancer and underwent heart surgery in 2016.
