Montreal police appear to be swimming in mystery after finding a damaged vehicle that ended its race by gliding in the Hochelaga sector overnight Wednesday with no trace of its driver.
The Service de Police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) was alerted by calls to 911 at around 1:20 a.m. about a crashed vehicle at the intersection of Souligny Avenue and Dickson Street.
The collision caused no injuries but caused property damage to street furniture, including a Hydro-Quebec pole, while the vehicle landed in a company’s yard.
No one appears to have been thrown from the vehicle at the scene. At the moment all hypotheses are being considered, according to the SPVM, which seems to be swimming in full mystery.
Collision scene investigators were dispatched to the scene of the accident to better understand what could have happened and why no driver was on board or near the scene of the accident.
Traffic is likely to be obstructed for most of the day in the area, where police say a security perimeter has been put in place to protect the scene.
