Lucasfilm and Disney have unveiled the first look at the iconic Sabine Wren character during Star Wars Celebration Europe at the ExCel Center in London. During the Lucasfilm Studio Showcase panel where the series Ahsoka was presented. The image was unveiled to an enthusiastic reception on the Celebration Stage, where fans were able to get their first glimpse of the character in live action.
Sabine is played Natasha Liu Bordizzowhose cast was already announced in May 2022 at the Star Wars Celebration. Speaking to previously, Bordizzo opened up about what drew her to the role of Sabine.
“Your incredible courage, spirit and swag in the midst of all the challenge and heartache of all that is going on. I think about her crew so many times in my life now because I’m like a member of a cult now. (Laughs) I’m a total fan every day when I go to work. Everyone says, ‘We’re all just fans that go to work and do Star Wars.’ It sounds so exaggerated for me to say what I’m about to say, but I really mean it. When I face a challenge in my life, I just think of the general spirit of the franchise and accept challenges with a little bit of positivity, a little bit of humor, and then move on. So it’s something I’ve learned a lot from playing the role myself.”

Sabine Wren was voiced by Tiya Sircar in the animated series Star Wars Rebels. She is a 16-year-old Mandalorian who was a former bounty hunter while also being a graffiti artist as well as a master of guns and explosives. Bordizzo has also appeared in The greatest showman, guns liftedand most recently provided the voice of Li Na for desire dragons.
The series came about as a follow-up to Star Rosario Dawson her live-action debut as a character in the second season of The Mandalorian. Ahsoka is written by David Filoniand produced by Filoni and Jon Favreau. During the second season of The Mandalorian, Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) and Grogu cross paths with Ahsoka in her search for a Jedi who could teach the baby the ways of the Force. Due to the disagreements she had with the Jedi Order in The Clone Wars, Ahsoka no longer identifies as one and declines the offer to train Grogu.
Ahsoka is coming to Disney+ in August 2023.
