New leak of top-secret US papers, intelligence agencies on alert
Leaks of top-secret US security papers are spreading, putting American intelligence on high alert. As the Pentagon investigates the source, a second batch of classified documents surfaced on 4chan, an anonymous website, and then on other social networks. But the leaked documents appear to go well beyond classified material about Ukraine’s war plans. Security analysts contacted by The New York Times believe there are also sensitive intelligence slides on China, the Indo-Pacific military theatre, the Middle East and terrorism. A senior US intelligence official called the leak “a nightmare for the Five Eyes,” as the intelligence alliance of the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada is known. Mick Mulroy, a former senior Pentagon official, believes it is a “major security breach” that could hamper Ukraine’s military planning: “Since many of these are documentary photos, they appear to be a deliberate leak made by someone.” has been made that seeks to harm the efforts of Ukraine, the United States and NATO.” One analyst described to the NYT what has emerged as “the tip of the iceberg” so far. A February 23 slide is captioned “Secret/NoForn.” marked, which means that it should not be shared with foreign countries.
