Football: CF Montreal still mistreated

For CF Montreal, one humiliation does not wait for the other. The Bleu-Blanc-Noir lost 4-0 to the New England Revolution at Gilette Stadium on Saturday.

Aside from their dramatic 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Union, Hernan Losada’s troops have been shut out in each of their other five games.

Despite some adjustments after the thaw inflicted on them by the Vancouver Whitecaps last Saturday, the Montreal team was dominated by the “Revs”.

Dylan Borrero was the first to shake CFMTL’s ropes in the 21st minute. At the edge of the penalty area, he circled a shot into the top corner that gave Jonathan Sirois no chance.

Just before the end of the first half, Gabriele Corbo offered the hosts a penalty by hooking the ball out of his hand. Spain midfielder Carles Gil didn’t miss his chance and the Montrealers retreated to the dressing room and looked down.

Striker Bobby Wood dealt the visitors the fatal blow in the 50th minute. The Real Salt Lake alum taunted Kamal Miller’s defensive coverage and then found the back of the net as he kicked the ball low to the ground.

Giacorno Vrioni completed the goal late in the game.

After six games this season, CF Montreal has only three small points in the table. He will try to improve his situation next Saturday when he receives a visit from DC United at the Stade Saputo.
