Coco, a two-year-old Labrador who became an alcoholic by sipping at the bottoms of bottles left behind by his owner, managed to kick his ugly addiction.
The dog was given rehabilitation treatment at Woodside Animal Rescue in Plympton, Devon, in the south of England.
Coco was luckier than her companion who was being treated for the same issues and died during their stay.
Animal rescue center staff said both dogs needed immediate care due to the severe withdrawal symptoms they were showing.
After four weeks of sedation to keep him out of pain, Coco finally held out.
The vets said they were seeing cases like this “for the first time”.
According to the center, Coco is not yet ready for adoption; Despite his recovery, he said he was still “very anxious” from time to time.
The Labrador was cared for in a “warm environment” by a special unit, away from other kennels.
