Israel: Netanyahu Collapses in Polls, 71% Criticize Him

71 percent of Israelis judge Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s behavior in the first 100 days of his new government negatively. The leader’s popularity is even falling among supporters of his Likud party, where 48% have now developed negative opinions of him.

These are some of the results of an opinion poll by private television Canale 13 after months of protests against its judicial reform.
In the event of new elections, Benny Gantz’s centrist National Union party would get 29 seats out of 120, while Yair Lapid’s other centrist Yesh Atid would get another 21 seats and Netanyahu’s Likud just 20 seats. The poll also found that only one in four Israelis believe it is necessary for the current government to remain in office. The others want a government of national unity or new elections.

Meanwhile, Netanyahu received Lapid today to brief him on the security situation and the wave of terror. “I went in worried – said Lapid later – and I went out even more worried.” The center leader reiterated that he did not trust the current prime minister.
