Rumors of a Jet Set Radio reboot have been circulating the internet for years. We recall that in May 2020, Hideki Naganuma, the original game’s composer, posted a tweet that seemed to tease the return of that license so treasured by late Dreamcast owners. Last year, it was Bloomberg who bluntly dropped a bullet, claiming that SEGA is indeed working on a new version of the game as well as a reboot of Craxy Taxi. Today, it’s quite literally an image and video that has been setting the powder ablaze on Twitter since a user posted a snippet of an internet video (dated in 2021) showing a passage of that jet-set radio ‘Next -Gen” version. We see the character Beat just in front of the famous Shibuya alley in Tokyo, accompanied by two other characters. But that’s not all, in the same video we see that a remake of Persona 3 is also in the works. The video from two years ago, we also see images of Sonic Frontiers well before it was revealed. So the noose is tightening on those revival projects that are set to be announced soon.
As for Crazy Taxi, we can assure you that SEGA is indeed working on a new game; so much so that the 2021 Steam game Taxi Chaos even sparked a legal battle between SEGA and publisher Lion Castle Entertainment…
