“She’s been stealing my hair since 1988!” Rod Stewart jokes pal Cyndi Lauper copied his mullet hairstyle for over 30 years while touring Australia

Sir Rod Stewart joked that his girlfriend Cyndi Lauper has been stealing his iconic mullet hairstyle for over 30 years.

The pop star, 78, took to Instagram on Tuesday to post two pictures of the friends together as they reunited in New Zealand.

In the first snap from the carousel, the duo took to the stage in 1988, rocking similar spiky hairstyles.

Sir Rod donned a leather jacket while Cyndi, 69, wore a glittery black dress.

A second photo, taken at an event at Spark Arena in New Zealand in March, showed the singers still have the same locks, but in different colors.

Cyndi rose to worldwide fame in the 1980s with her hit song “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.”

The star recently admitted that being a big name is no longer important to her.

“You can’t spend your whole life worrying about being famous,” the Grammy winner told AARP The Magazine.

“If losing fame means doing what you want, then you have to go with what you want,” she added.

She emphasized that pursuing her passion is more important to her than staying in the spotlight.

While she clearly doesn’t need to be famous, Lauper remains a musical icon who continues to push the boundaries of her career.

In recent years she has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, released a country album called Detour and composed the 2012 Tony Award-winning Broadway hit Kinky Boots.

The New York native hasn’t changed all that much, as she’s still rocking the colorful hairstyles that made her a pop culture phenomenon some 30 years ago.

“I think I’ve reached an age where I can have pink hair if I want – or blue hair,” the singer revealed.
