Queen Elizabeth II was “surprised” after Meghan Markle “shrugged off” her advice to establish herself as king, claims a new bombshell book.

The ordeal was detailed in Our King Charles III: The Man and the Monarch Revealed, royal commentator Robert Jobson’s explosive new book, due out on April 13.

The veteran correspondent claims that the late monarch, who died on September 8, 2022 at the age of 96, told Meghan it would be worth speaking to Sophie Rhys-Jones, now the Duchess of Edinburgh, who once found herself in a similar situation after marrying Prince Edward.

The Queen believed Sophie may have acted as Meghan’s advisor, Jobson wrote in the book, seen by the Chron.

However, the author said Meghan “made it clear that she would make her own decisions” and turned down the Queen’s alleged offer.

“When the Queen, who had asked her then-Deputy Private Secretary Samantha Cohen to work with Meghan for a period of adjustment, warmly suggested that she turn to Sophie, Countess of Wessex for support and advice, Meghan scrapped the idea and said, ‘I have Harry,'” Jobson wrote.

Jobson added that Meghan’s “reaction surprised the Queen”.

The claim was previously made by another royal commentator, Gyles Brandreth, who told ITV Meghan said she had Harry to help her adjust to royal life.

“The Queen said to Meghan, ‘You’re new here. Joining the royal family isn’t easy for everyone. Sophie Wessex, the last one to come in, maybe she can be a mentor of sorts. She could advise you, help you.” But Meghan said, ‘No, I don’t think I need that, I have Harry,'” Brandreth claimed in December 2022.

He said the Queen offered the advice to Meghan because of her love for her grandson Harry.

“She loved Harry,” Brandreth said of the Queen. “She loved all her grandchildren but she loved him especially because she loved his sense of humor and I know she gave Meghan a warm welcome and was very interested in the work.”

Elsewhere in the book, Jobson claims that stripping the exiled royals of their titles of Duke and Duchess of Sussex was discussed at “the highest level”.

However, Charles was reportedly not in favor of stripping his son and daughter-in-law of their titles, the book states.

The Post has reached out to Markle’s rep for comment.
