The musical The Phantom of the Opera, Broadway’s longest-running show, will be performed this weekend for the last time in 35 years.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical has been performed in New York since 1988. Following the closure of theaters due to the pandemic, The Phantom of the Opera returned to Broadway in October 2021.
On April 16, the curtain falls for the last time. That ending was to be expected, producer Cameron Mackintosh, quoted by Variety magazine, said as the number of lucrative weeks had dwindled in recent years. For a few weeks the production was even in deficit because the influx of viewers decreased.
