At a meeting in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov also discussed viewpoints on the scope of the two nations’ ties and other regional and global issues. he told Associated Press of Pakistan (APP).
The officials attending the fourth meeting of Afghanistan’s neighboring countries also reviewed the progress of various economic initiatives under the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, whose joint members are China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and China, as well as Uzbekistan, India and Iran.
Hina Rabbani Khar and Lavrov also agreed on the importance of continued close consultations to advance the common goals of a peaceful, stable, sovereign and prosperous Afghanistan.
In January this year, during the eighth meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Commercial, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation in Islamabad, delegations from both countries examined ways to strengthen bilateral ties.
The meeting promoted the review of existing areas of cooperation and offered new opportunities for deepening relations between the two countries.
