The tragic event happened around 1:30 p.m. on route 113 in Lebel-sur-Quévillon, a small community of about 2,000 inhabitants.

The victim was driving south in a red Hyundai Accent as he made a left onto the Chemin du Moulin.

“At first glance, the driver did not avoid a heavy truck coming from the north, i.e. from the opposite direction,” explains Audrey-Anne Bilodeau, spokeswoman for the Sûreté du Québec.

After the impact, the young woman was in a “very critical” condition, said Agent Bilodeau. His death was eventually confirmed at a hospital.

The driver of the heavy truck, who is in his late 20s, was being treated for nervous shock.

Collision investigators were dispatched to the scene of the accident to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
