Three addresses to restore your old furniture

Three addresses to restore your old furniture

You love this chair vintage whose seat is weary, and whose whole has lost its former freshness? It is possible to give them a second wind by entrusting them to upgrade experts. And it’s worth it!

Antiques, centenarians and furniture from the 1950s to today are often of high quality and above all have a unique history. Here are craftsmen specialized in the upholstery, recovery and restoration of old furniture to know at all costs!

1. Bring furniture back to life vintage

The enthusiasm for vintage furniture will not stop. Caroline, who trained as an upholsterer at the École des Métiers du Meuble de Montréal, and her partner Guillaume from Les Indiscrets have a strong weakness for mid-century modern style. You’ll be served because most of their restorations are vintage furniture. However, they approach any type of project with the same goal: to restore, refurbish and recycle old furniture using quality materials and careful craftsmanship.

2. Original creations

Two sisters, passionate about decoration, combine their respective talents to redesign chairs that are considered obsolete or out of fashion. Her creations, brought together through the Créations Chaisart project, are unique, colourful, whimsical and playful at will. The fabrics are new and of the highest quality. Customers can also bring their chair and choose upholstery fabric from their inventory and stains to recolor the wood. In the photo you can see the Lama Cossack model with a footstool. The wood has been repainted orange-red and the seat is upholstered in orange velvet with an openwork pompom band for the finish. An upgrade from Créations Chaisart, $750.

3. From furniture of all kinds to motorcycle saddles!

Arriving in Quebec in 2010, Sam Le Rembourreur’s Samuel Pelletier was taking a trial class at Montreal’s School of Furniture Trades. It’s love at first sight. After completing his training and working in the workshops of Meubles Lorenz and Meubles Re-No, he started his company in 2017. With his wife at his side in the craft, he lives his passion for furniture of all kinds. Another mainstay has been added: the upgrading of motorcycle saddles! He becomes an expert at giving the foam the desired shape and skillfully sewing its cover.
