Goal saving in Moncton: Patrick Roy believes the QMJHL made the right decision

Patrick Roy believes the QMJHL made the right decision by not awarding the goal to Baie-Comeau Drakkar in Game n overtimeOh 7 against the Moncton Wildcats last Tuesday.

But that doesn’t mean he doesn’t think the goal wasn’t good.

“Moncton’s goal, I think the league made the right decision,” he said during his post-game press conference on Friday night. The bad decision is that the referee was badly positioned and said there was no goal. The league can’t award a goal they don’t see. Does the racquet hit the puck or the pad? The sequences I was shown there is no final recovery and I would have made the same decision as the league.

Remember, official Mario Maillet denied Charles-Thomas Larochelle a goal that would have propelled the Drakkar into the second round of the playoffs. Instead, the Wildcats won, scoring a goal minutes later.
