Prague, 16 April (EFE).- Thousands of people gathered in central Prague this Sunday to demonstrate against the centre-right government of Prime Minister Petr Fiala.

The demonstrators, summoned by the right-wing populist and pro-Russian party PRO, demanded the resignation of the Fiala board, which they accused of the current energy crisis, the lack of medicines and the budget deficit, among other things.

Many people gathered in Wenceslas Square carried flags of the Czech Republic and banners with slogans such as “Down with NATO”, “No to War” and “The government and the media are lying”.

After about two hours of concentration, the demonstrators marched towards the seat of government, Radio Prague reported on its website.

Czech police have refused to give an estimate of the number of protesters who took to the streets in central Prague today, despite local press reporting the number in the thousands.

The Czech Republic is one of the European countries that has taken in the most Ukrainian refugees and is providing the greatest economic and military aid to Ukraine, which was occupied by Russia last February. EFE
