As the war in Ukraine drags on for over a year, the Russian military has reportedly begun to reinforce its front line by sending 1950s-era tanks into battle.

An image circulated by multiple media outlets on Friday shows a Soviet T-55 tank in the southern Ukraine city of Zaporizhya. Several hundred tanks of this type are to be sent to the front in the coming weeks.
The approximately 70-year-old tank does not appear to have received any updates prior to its deployment, suggesting Russia is sending obsolete equipment to support the war effort.
The arrival of the T-55 coincides with the deployment of much newer tanks by the Ukrainian army. In fact, Challenger 2 are delivered from Great Britain and Leopard 2 from Germany.
