Alec Baldwin has asked that the lawsuit brought by Halyna Hutchins’ parents and sister following the death of the cinematographer on the set of Rush be dismissed.
The actor said that Hutchins’ parents and sister had become distant from her “physically, financially and emotionally” for “years prior to her death.”
Baldwin said in court documents filed last Thursday that Olga Solovey, Anatolii Androsovych and Svetlana Zemko only filed the “misguided” lawsuit seeking “compensation” for Hutchins’ October 2021 death on the Rush film set outside of Santa Fe , New Mexico.
“The loss of a daughter and a sister is undoubtedly painful under any circumstances.
“Yet the plaintiffs — who were physically, financially, and emotionally distant from Halyna for years prior to her death — have no valid reason to take action against the defendants,” the documents read, according to NBC News.

The attorney representing Hutchins’ parents and sister, Gloria Allred, said in a statement Saturday that Baldwin’s request that the lawsuit be dismissed shows that he “again tried to evade responsibility” (pictured: Halyna Hutchins, right, and her sister, Svetlana Zemko, left)
The lawsuit, filed in February, named Baldwin, gunsmith Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, assistant director David Halls and Rust Movie Productions, LLC. than the accused.
The attorney representing Hutchins’ parents and sister, Gloria Allred, reportedly said in a statement Saturday that Baldwin’s request that the lawsuit be dismissed shows that he “once again attempted to evade responsibility.”
She added that she and the Hutchins family are there to ensure Baldwin is “held accountable for his actions.”
Halyna Hutchins was shot dead at Bonanza Creek Ranch on October 21, 2021 while Baldwin was rehearsing for a scene with a handgun, also wounding director Joel Souza after the bullet pierced Hutchins.
In January, both Baldwin and Gutierrez-Reed were charged with involuntary manslaughter and Baldwin has since vowed to challenge the charges, calling them a “horrific miscarriage of justice.”
He and the Rust gunsmith Hannah Gutierrez-Reed face a maximum of 18 months in prison if they are convicted of involuntary manslaughter.
Prosecutors allege that Baldwin pulled the trigger on the gun that killed Hutchins while Gutierrez-Reed failed to ensure that it was discharged.
Director Halls has been charged with negligent use of a deadly weapon and has agreed not to plead a plea, said District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies.

Last year, Baldwin was sued by Hutchin’s husband Matthew Hutchins and their nine-year-old son, but they reached a settlement in October 2022.
After settling the lawsuit last year, Mr Hutchins claimed he did not want any further “allegations”.
But in January, the Hutchins family said they support Alec Baldwin’s manslaughter charge.
In his court filing Thursday, Baldwin said he believed the settlement “should have been the end of the matter.”
The next hearing in the case is scheduled for June 9.
