Desjardins customers have until Thursday to claim an amount for “lost time” related to data leaks in 2019.
Depending on your situation, you can claim anywhere from $18 to $90.
This is part of a class action lawsuit that was approved in 2022.
It is estimated that 9 million people are directly affected by the theft of personal data.
“Of course, I don’t find the crowd surprising. Like I’m telling you, $200 million goes by quickly, but it’s obviously a big sum for this type of class action lawsuit,” says Michel Girard, business columnist at the Journal de Montréal.
You can claim an additional $1,000 through October 2025 if you can prove you were a data breach victim.
If this is the case, you can apply by this date.
The online complaint portal has been open since October 18, 2022.
