Total closure of the A40 near the Galeries d’Anjou this weekend

Motorists who have to drive to the Galeries d’Anjou sector on Saturday evening and Sunday morning must mentally prepare for hundreds of orange cones and lost minutes through detours.

Due to the dismantling of the Boulevard des Galeries-d’Anjou viaduct, which overlooks the motorway, lanes will be closed from 10pm and should reopen around 11am on Sunday.

From Saturday, 10 p.m., Autobahn 40 will be completely closed to traffic in both directions. To the east, motorists must exit at Langelier Boulevard because the freeway is closed from that point to the entrances of Highway 25.

To the west, the freeway will be closed from the exit to Highway 25 North and reopened from Langelier Boulevard.

To make matters worse for motorists, the side roads along the motorway will also be closed from Saturday 9 p.m. to Sunday 2 p.m.

“The diversions will be implemented on the city’s road network and will be marked with temporary signs,” the Department for Transport (MTQ) said, acknowledging that the works are likely to cause “heavy traffic jams”.

“Users are urged to avoid the sector,” the MTQ wisely advised.

Motorists will not be at the end of their worries on Sunday, as the dismantling work will have to continue beyond the weekend and will lead to further lane closures on dates that have yet to be determined.
