Residents of rue Beausoleil, rue Régimbald and rue Émond Ouest and Chemin de la Place-Vanier have been asked to evacuate their homes as soon as possible due to the risk of the river Diable, around midnight on Monday night to reach the flood sill.
“Therefore, in order not to endanger your safety and that of emergency responders, it is strongly recommended that you relocate to a safe place until water levels are safe again,” the city said in a press release posted on its Facebook page.
“Have your 72 hour kit put together and be sure to clear your yard of any debris that may be washed away by the water and secure any outdoor equipment such as a BBQ,” it recommended.
The municipality has also made sacks and sand available to citizens at the municipal garage, which is open to the public during office hours, and at 109, Chemin de la Sablière, at any time.
Several other rivers are being monitored as they risk flooding their beds due to spring floods, such as the Rivière du Nord, which is at risk of a “major flood”.
