Texas authorities arrest Cubans for human trafficking Directorio

Kinney County, Texas, authorities have arrested a Cuban couple on alleged human trafficking charges. Sheriff’s deputies surprised the defendants while they were transporting five undocumented people in their car.

Those born on the island resided in Elton, Texas. However, the driver of the vehicle produced a Kentucky state driver’s license. As is well known, this area is known for hosting a large number of migrants.

Caught for violating traffic rules

Apparently, the alleged human trafficking business ran smoothly. However, one of those involved, namely the driver, committed a traffic violation on a country road. The popular route connects the border with inland Texas.

After said violation of the law, highway officers immediately ordered the vehicle to be stopped before it reached the town of Bracketville. They discovered the presence of undocumented people in the back of the car and requested the assistance of the Rio Sector Border Patrol. The agents carried out the detention of the migrants and automatically began prosecuting them for entering the country illegally.

sentences

Human traffickers, on the other hand, face prison sentences of up to ten years. Then they could even be deported to Cuba after the specified time.

Cases like this are repeating themselves in the United States, particularly in Texas. Several Cuban citizens have been involved in events of this nature in recent months.

On April 6, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) arrested a Cuban “coyote” who was transporting four Mexican migrants. They were hidden in a van belonging to the American company U-Haul.

Both the coyote and the four migrants were eventually arrested, even after they fled and disobeyed initial police orders. This was stated in a Facebook post from the Zavala County Sheriff’s Office in Texas.
