Beginning of the end: Now it’s been reported that trouble began in December 2021 when the two reality stars headed to the Maldives for a lavish getaway
Maura is currently thought to be single while Lucie is engaged to fellow Love Islander Luke Mabbott.
A source told the publication: “Lucie and Maura just drifted apart – it was funny when they were both single and going on holiday together, but Lucie is settling down in Cornwall with her fiancé and Maura lives in London.
“However, when Maura didn’t follow Lucie it was a bit of a shock – clearly they weren’t as close as Lucie thought they were as it was a bit tough and ended the friendship a bit sour.”
The two became friends at the villa and remained friends thereafter, with Lucie modeling co-star Maura Higgins’ Ann Summers swimsuit collection.
She shared the classy snap as she posed on the beach in the plunging costume, with the caption: “Always support my girl @maurahiggins #womensupportingwomen”
In an interview after leaving the villa, Lucie opened up about her friendship with Maura, saying that while they didn’t get off to the best start, they became best friends and supported each other through difficult times.
“It took me a while to trust Maura but now she’s my best friend at the villa,” she said. “She really supported me through everything.”
BFFs: Fans have long speculated that the reason for the pair’s fallout was Maura’s close friendship with Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague
Fans have long speculated that the reason behind the couple’s fallout was Maura’s close friendship with Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague.
Although Maura and Molly-Mae were close, both Lucie and Molly-Mae admitted they weren’t friends.
Molly-Mae told Metro in 2019: “I still see the people I was close with at the villa and Lucie and I weren’t close at the villa.
“So she would say that because I would say the same thing about her because we weren’t speaking, we weren’t close. And obviously, circumstances just mean we’re not that close.
