Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre has approached Twitter’s new owner, Elon Musk, to have Radio-Canada and CBC be labeled “state-funded media”.

Like the former presidents of the United States and Brazil, Poilievre attacks a cornerstone of democracy: information. In his eyes, the public broadcaster would be a state medium that broadcasts propaganda for Justin Trudeau.
His words not only discredit the public broadcaster, they have an impact on the entire media and journalistic work.
All means seem good to come to power. Messages that go against his thinking are called fake.
If he loses, it’s a safe bet he’ll fall into the vote-stealing theory as well.

The Trumps, Musks and Co. have a narcissistic personality in common. They believe that they are always right and that the universe must be built according to their ambitions.
By discrediting information that frustrates them and relying on social media algorithms, these pseudo-democrats hope to control their country by instilling only the information that suits them.
Radio-Canada is far from being a state media outlet, although it operates within the framework of Canadian values. As an international observer of elections in Africa, I have seen what a broadcaster serving the dictatorship is like.

Some want us to fear the Russians and Chinese in terms of weakening democracy. We should pay even more attention to the saboteurs that are in our backyard!
Poilievre claims that with him as Prime Minister we would be the freest country in the world. This is true insofar as we think like him and ignore solidarity.
