Shah Rukh Khan was pictured with son Aryan at Aditya Chopra’s residence in Mumbai
Legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra’s wife, Pamela Chopra, died Thursday at the age of 74. The news of her death was confirmed on Twitter by lyricist Javed Akhtar. Family and friends from the film fraternity came to the Juhu home of Pamela Chopra’s son Aditya Chopra to pay their last respects. Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan arrived at the compound with his son Aryan Khan. The superstar was clicked as he walked into the house. Others who visited family were Karan Johar, Manisha Koirala, Poonam Dhillon, Bollywood choreographer Vaibhavi Merchant, Shraddha Kapoor to name a few. Katrina Kaif, who worked with the late Yash Chopra in Jab Tak Hai Jaan, visited Aditya Chopra’s home with her husband Vicky Kaushal. Hrithik Roshan, who was part of YRF’s Dhoom series, was also clicked at the producer’s apartment. Hrithik Roshan also happens to be Aditya Chopra’s childhood friend.
Deepika Padukone, who was part of the Aditya Chopra-backed Pathaan, paid a visit to the producer’s home with her husband Ranveer Singh. Ranveer made his acting debut with YRF’s band Baaja Baaraat. Actor Aamir Khan, who was part of YRF’s Dhoom series, also came to Aditya Chopra’s house with Kiran Rao.
Following the news of Pamela Chopra’s death, Bollywood stars such as Anushka Sharma, Ajay Devgn, Anupam Kher, Poonam Dhillon, Sanjay Dutt and Bhumi Pednekar and others paid tribute to the singer-writers on Instagram and Twitter.
For those who don’t know, Shah Rukh Khan was closely associated with the Yash Raj family and has collaborated on many of their major projects. Some of them are Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Veer-Zara, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, Dil To Pagal Hain, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge to name a few. Shah Rukh Khan’s latest blockbuster hit Pathaan was also back from Yash Raj Films.
The official YRF Twitter handle shared the news of her death earlier in the day. Her post read: “It is with a heavy heart that the Chopra family would like to announce that Pamela Chopra, 74, passed away this morning. Her cremation took place at 11am today in Mumbai. We are grateful for your prayers and the family would like to ask for privacy at this moment of deep sadness and reflection.”
According to PTI, Pamela Chopra has been treated for pneumonia at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai for the past few days. “She died early this morning from pneumonia with ARDS (Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome). She had been hospitalized in intensive care for 15 days,” said Dr. Prahlad Prabhudesai of the news agency.
Pamela Chopra was last seen in the Netflix documentary The Romantics, where she spoke about her late husband. Pamela Chopra is survived by sons Aditya Chopra and Uday Chopra. Aditya Chopra is married to Rani Mukerji.
