sputnik A group of 19 Republican US congressmen have written to President Joe Biden demanding an end to “unbridled aid” to Ukraine, reports The Hill.
“We are deeply concerned that the trajectory of U.S. aid to the Ukrainian effort threatens further escalation and lacks muchneeded strategic clarity,” lawmakers wrote in their Thursday letter to Biden.
The Biden administration’s current strategy constant aid and sanctions only leads to a prolongation of the conflict and “more violence”, according to congressmen, which increases the risk of a direct confrontation with Russia.
“Russian US aid to Ukraine must end, and we will firmly oppose any future aid packages.”
Republicans are asking the White House to focus on its own military and economic resources.
“Our national interests and those of the Ukrainian people are best served if we promote the negotiations that are urgently needed to bring this conflict to a resolution,” they say.
In addition, the letter’s authors believe it is irresponsible to provide military aid to a country known for corruption while Americans suffer from inflation and mounting public debt.
According to them, in such an environment, the United States’ ability to respond to possible threats decreases, while Russia and China grow closer and stronger.
