— I’m doing this to have fun, to have fun, to have fun

It’s Resident’s voice, but the body does bizarre rap. From the Hippodrome in Buenos Aires, Argentina’s most popular music producer started his first world tour BZRL Live Tour on Thursday evening in front of 20,000 fans. Between large screens arranged in 360 degrees and an impressive play of light, Bizarrap, as Gonzalo Julián Conde is known as the stage name, made the audience dance for two hours to the rhythm of his “Music Sessions”, the songs that he composes and records together with other artists and those that he made world famous.

Cell phones raised, the young concert-goers received a standing ovation for the DJ as he took the stage. He did it with the same look he introduced himself to in his Room studio in Ramos Mejía, a suburb of Buenos Aires: dark glasses, black cap, tracksuit and big headphones, which he used to remix his rap songs live . , trap, reggaeton and electronics.

— Everything I touch, I do bombastic

Recorded with Argentinian Nathy Peluso, BZRP Music Sessions #36 were the starting point of a very careful show from an audiovisual point of view. With enveloping sound and images mixed with a web of laser beams, Bizarrap lit up the circuit with the voice of his compatriot, later hooked by the voice of ragman L-Gante, the protagonist of session #38.

At the age of 24, this musical king Midas, capable of catapulting the artists he works with to the top of the musical platforms, transformed the Hipódromo into a gigantic electronic track. The audience, mostly made up of teenagers and mid-twenties, didn’t stop dancing.

— When I say fifth, you say step

One of the standout moments was the performance of the evening’s only guest: Duki, the musical pseudonym of Mauro Ezequiel Lombardo, one of Argentina’s most listened to rappers. “Number one,” said the producer as he introduced the protagonist of BZRP Music Session #50. Duki delighted those in attendance who sang, applauded and cheered for their idol.

The Fifth Step mentioned in the song has been one of the most fertile areas for Argentine urban music over the past decade. Duki and Bizarrap took part in this gigantic cockfight organized in Rivadavia Park, which was also the origin myth of other colleagues like Wos, Trueno, Lit Killah and even Paulo Londra who also took part.

Argentinian fans expected more guests but they didn’t show up and the show lowered its intensity after Duki’s departure. It was the turn of little-known songs until the show resurfaced with hits from local artists like Cazzu, Dillom and Nicki Nicole. Shortly thereafter came the long-awaited session in London, the 23rd, and the number, chosen to honor NBA star Michael Jordan, flew across the screens as the audience chanted, “Because I felt like I had.” I got lost once and today I woke up, I can say I’m back.”

“I’m very excited”

“I don’t know if you know, but this is my first own show and it’s very exciting for me. Hardly any words come out of me because I’m very excited,” admitted Bizarrap in the final phase of the concert. “I’m not very expressive,” he admitted shortly afterwards, impressed by the reception. He sang and danced with the audience, but he was also nervous.

— A wolf like me is not for guys like you uh uh uh.

Four years ago, Bizarrap started its first sessions with a simple mixing program, a low-quality microphone and a friend’s cell phone camera. Now he’s performing in Buenos Aires with sold-out tickets for the three consecutive concerts he’ll be giving at the Hipódromo and preparing for a tour that will take him to Mexico, Puerto Rico and Spain.

As in a symbiotic relationship, just as bizarre rap’s catchy beats have propelled aspiring artists beyond their borders, his collaborations with big stars like Puerto Rican Residente or Colombian Shakira have been a springboard for him.

The Barranquilla shooter against her ex-partner Gerard Piqué was one of the highlights of the night, with images of a howling wolf off the screens alternating with cartoons of the artist and bizarre rap created for BZRP Music Session #53.

— I arrived in town and they welcome me as if I were a boss

Bizarre rap intoxicated Argentine audiences with the remix of Malbec, the song co-composed with Duki in which they pay tribute to the celebrations of the Argentine team after winning the World Cup in Qatar last December.

Argentinian flags among the participants, while images of the World Cup were projected onto the screens, from the three stars that now adorn the Albiceleste shirt, and large placards reading ‘Argentina’.

— Stay, the nights without you hurt

How could it be otherwise, since the audience was waiting for him all night, the DJ and producer said goodbye with his biggest success to date: the session recorded with the Spanish Quevedo, which has accumulated almost 1,200 million views on YouTube.

After renewed thanks, broken by emotions, and the applause with which his fans reacted from below, Bizarrap left the stage. He will stay in Buenos Aires for two more nights. “Have fun”. “To reiterate.”
