Love Island’s Samie is finally breaking her silence on the split from Tom after he confirmed the split

Love Island’s Samie Elishi has finally broken her silence on her split from Tom Clare.

Her ex confirmed the news on his Instagram Stories on Wednesday, where he admitted he was “gutted” that their relationship was over.

And after receiving numerous messages about their split, Sami, 22, opened up about the split on Thursday when she said she “really didn’t want to write an Instagram story about it”.

On her own social media, she wrote: “I really didn’t want to have to write an Instagram story about this but the comments and messages I’ve been getting since Tom posted his story yesterday just aren’t fair.

“I will talk about everything soon, but the time is not right at the moment (which I will also explain).

Samie concluded: “Thanks for the kind messages, they don’t go unnoticed.”

It comes as footballer Tom, 23, took to his Instagram Stories on Wednesday to break his silence after reports the couple had gone their separate ways.

It was announced on Monday that Tom and real estate agent Samie had split just a month after filming on Love Island wrapped.

Addressing the reports, Tom took to social media to confirm their split but insisted they are still “on good terms” and said he had “nothing but love” for Samie.

The reality TV star, who met Samie on Love Island’s winter 2023 series, didn’t give a reason for their split but admitted he’s “gutted” that their relationship is over.

He wrote: “I didn’t think I would write this but me and Samie have parted ways.

“We still get along well and I have nothing but love and respect for her. I’m disappointed it’s over but I really wish Samie the best.

At the time, Samie hadn’t publicly commented on their split, but earlier this week it was reported that they were ending their romance after wanting to focus on their careers.

Tom’s statement comes after it emerged Samie admitted she went to Love Island more for fame than love.

She made the very candid revelation while chatting with Chloe Burrows on her new YouTube series Chloe vs The World last week.

Appearing on Chloe’s show with then-boyfriend Tom, Samie wasn’t afraid to admit she went to Love Island to be “nude” and not for love.

Former Islander Chloe, 27, asked Samie and Tom: “Did you go to Love Island for love or did you bare it?”

To which Samie candidly replied: “I’ll be honest, mine was the second. I didn’t expect to meet anyone.”

Tom then added, “I think mine was I really wanted to meet someone, but for the first two weeks I was like, ‘I’m stuffed here, there’s nobody for me.’

When Chloe joked about forcing it, Samie said, “It’s f***ing Love Island!”

Reflecting on her own Villa experience in 2021, Chloe admitted she didn’t like Hugo Hammond, who she briefly hooked up with, but chatted up with him to stay on the show.

She explained: “I obviously didn’t like Hugo. The producers said, “Come on,” so I went and talked to him, but I said, “No, I can’t do this. I’m sorry I can’t.”

“I was like, ‘I want to stay in here, boy,’ so I’m going to chat with whoever you want. I’ll do what you want.’

Chloe later made it to the finals with then-boyfriend Toby Aromolaran, who she split from in October 2022, and the pair finished second.

News of Samie and Tom’s split was the first reporter on Monday when it was claimed the couple had ended their romance.

The couple, who finished third in the South African Winter 2023 series, split after wanting to “focus on their careers”.

Tom, who lives in Barnsley, and Samie, who lives in Essex, are also said to have attributed their split to not being able to make the distance work.

A source told The Sun: “Samie and Tom have sadly decided to call it quits. There’s a lot of love and respect, but it just wasn’t going anywhere.

“The distance between them was too great and they’re both really focused on their post-Love Island careers.”

Fans feared the couple had split after not posting to each other on their social media accounts for two weeks.

Tom had previously said he would like to move somewhere for Samie to make their relationship work, but there was “no rush” to do so.

Meanwhile, the pair traveled to each other’s homes to “spend a few days together” and try to make their romance work.

Tom told The Sun earlier this month: “I’ve been down there for a couple of days or she came up here. It wasn’t a one day thing, we make it work.

“I think at some point we want to move in together, but that takes time, it’s not something you rush.

“I think if we could we would want to move in together tomorrow, but we just do it naturally. I would live wherever Samie wants to live – I don’t mind.”

After appearing on the hit ITV dating show, Tom and Samie made their relationship official while having a romantic date night.

In late March, Samie took to Instagram to share the exciting news. She wrote: “This is my BOYFRIEND everyone.”

The pair have since documented a string of dates including playing soccer together, romantic dinner dates and playing top golf.

The pair made it to the finals and took third place, although both arrived as bombshell contenders.

They lost to winners Kai Fagan and Sanam Harrinanan and placed just behind runners-up Ron Hall and Lana Jenkins.
