Artificial insemination: She uses the sperm of a stranger she met on Facebook

A Canadian woman, desperate to become a mother, searched Facebook for a sperm donor and asked a total stranger to become the parent of her children.

“At the sperm bank, you cannot meet the donor until your child is 18 years old. But first I wanted to get to know the person,” said Ontarian Sarah Mangat, 34, according to The Independent on Monday.

The 30-year-old, who has been single for almost 8 years, decided to embark on the adventure of being a single mom in 2020 and initially planned to do business with a sperm bank.

However, she was quickly put off by the “too impersonal” process, so the woman instead turned to the Canadian Sperm Donors Facebook group to find a parent.

“I was about to become a mother in an unconventional way – why not find the donor myself,” she continued to English media.

After chatting with a few people and receiving some “strange messages,” the current passed on one of them who agreed to become his sperm donor.

Soon after, she underwent 14 months of fertility testing and treatments at Ontario’s Victory Fertility and Reproductive Health Clinic before becoming pregnant with twins in November 2021.

“I almost had a heart attack when I found out it was two,” she said.

Despite complications, the new mother welcomed two premature twins, Elora and Addison, on April 30, 2022. And after traumatic months of having to hook up the two underdeveloped babies to machines, the mother was finally able to bring them home again. healthy.

“You can’t wait forever for the right person to come into your life. If you’re thinking of doing it alone, I say “do it”. It’s the best decision I’ve made,” she confided to me for her babies’ one year.
