Texas Massacre: Manhunt widens, ‘maybe he’s armed’

Texas authorities continue a massive manhunt to find Francisco Oropeza, who may be armed and suspected of killing five people, including an 8-year-old boy, by shooting him with his automatic rifle in Cleveland. More than 200 local and federal police officers are searching for the suspect, a Mexican man believed to be armed and dangerous. “It can be anywhere,” Sheriff Greg Capers, the investigating officer, warned at a news conference over the weekend.

Authorities have put up an $80,000 bounty on bounty for any information leading to the capture of this “monster,” as FBI Special Agent James Smith called it. The 38-year-old gunman is suspected of opening fire at a home in Cleveland, near Houston, on Friday night, killing five people, ages 8 to 31. According to local authorities, he was practicing shooting in his garden when neighbors asked him to stop the noise so a child could sleep. In response, the suspect allegedly entered his neighbors’ home and shot “like an execution, essentially in the head,” Sheriff Capers said.
