Cuban journalist Julita Osendi confessed her disappointment at having lost her life believing in the project created by Fidel Castro.
Referring to May 1, Labor Day, Osendi recalled what that date meant in the past. This year the regime had to cancel the celebration due to lack of fuel.
“I just woke up because perhaps sleeping is the best way to escape from this reality that is overwhelming, numbing and infuriating. 46 years ago I went into labor for Javier, my eldest son. You couldn’t get to the SAGRADO HEART because all the roads were blocked by the crowd bragging about the revolution at the May Day parade,” he said.
“But hey, it’s not exactly Javier I wanted to tell you about. It’s May Day, a true example of how devastated my country is. May 1st was a date associated with joy, life and prosperity. Into the good and the bad, Cubans marched and there was always hope for a better future. They fought for a better future. They trusted in a better future. MY FRIENDS… hope was green and a goat ate it,” he added.
Julita gave a brief overview of the crisis in the country, where the authorities have removed even the least that was there.
“Even the sad chicken, which was barely enough and stretched it for two meals, they took from us. From the famous “package” that they sell us, very expensive by the way, they already took a bottle of oil from the two initials .. The same applies to the puppy package. For the basic basket, the butcher shop only sells the few eggs that don’t last a week, and ground beef? And inedible, disgusting sausage that even my cat doesn’t want to eat,” he asked.
“At least a quarter of a million Cubans have left. Where’s your food?
Three days ago I was in an orthopedic hospital, which I will not mention, and there was a man younger than me who was crying. They made a plaque for him and I hear a nurse call down the hall, Gentleman! Anyone have plaster left?
The man was crying in pain and there was NO plaster. What May Day are we going to celebrate?” he said.
“What this government wants is that we don’t eat, but they’re getting fatter, pink, their buttons bursting every day. Up to how many?” he asked.
“Of the traditional children’s stories that I love so much, there is one that can encompass all of these fallacies. Of course they know I mean Pinocchio. In a new version, of course, because in this one the nose has continued and will continue to grow in the midst of power outages, no gas, no food and no medicine. On the 1st of May? Please! And there’s another report on TV where a leader announced as an achievement that he would give out ONE bottle of oil Every fourooooo months, would you have seen a bigger taunt? “.
“Cuba is an island and there is no fish, shrimp or lobster. Go to the fat gentlemen’s houses and you will surely find them. Do you know? I am tired and very sad because I was so wrong. And the saddest thing is to have lost your life believing in this Machiavellian and egregious error”.
